Hīnaki by David Trubridge


Design based on fish traps which are called Hīnaki by Māori, though often the name is used specifically for an eel trap. They were made from woven vines, some in amazingly beautiful forms. Part of the Seed System range of kit set light shades made from sustainably grown bamboo plywood.

Finishes available:


White Paint (two sides), Black Paint (two sides);

Bamboo (on one side) with choice of Aqua, Black, Blue, Lime, Orange, Pink, Red or White. Paint colours are commonly faced on the interior of light shade.

Maximum 60w E27 Lamp – LED recommended

The Hīnaki light shade is available in three sizes:

500mm Height  x 170mm Diametre (small E14 lampholder – max 60w) See Hīnaki 500 in your home

900mm Height  x 320mm Diametre See Hīnaki 900 in your home

1400mm Height  x 500mm Diametre – POA
