Baskets of Light by David Trubridge

The Baskets Of Light are a redesign of the earlier baskets of knowledge series of lights by David Trubridge withdrawn in 2019. This new set of designs excludes the plastic panels of the earlier designs for a more sustainable outcome. There are three designs in the series; Wave , Crystal & Leaf. Each throws a distinctly different pattern of light & shadow onto the surface below when lit.

The Baskets of Light is based on a Māori myth in which three baskets of knowledge were obtained for mankind by the god Tāne to bring wisdom to humanity (Usually referred to te kete tuauri, te kete tuatea and te kete aronui.)

The Baskets of Light are built from sustainably managed birch plywood, sourced in Finland, which is so thin that the wood grain becomes translucent; Utilising a minimal amount of wood for maximum effect. They are shipped as kitset, rolled up into a tube and assembled by the buyer with little nylon push-in clips.

The kitset includes the suspension cord and E27 lampholder – Ceiling rose and lamp sold seprately
